History

6 Degrees Consulting was founded on May 1, 2006 by Bob Lawson who realized a void in the Pittsburgh market for certified, experienced, minority contractors and suppliers. 6 Degrees opened its first office and current headquarters in Pittsburgh's developing East End. Being wholly-owned and operated by a lifelong Pittsburgh resident, 6 Degrees holds both a personal dedication to and financial stake in the development and revitalization of Pittsburgh and its surrounding communities. From its Pittsburgh headquarters, 6 Degrees services all areas of Western Pennsylvania.

In April of 2014, 6 Degrees Consulting expanded its geographic footprint beyond Western Pennsylvania with the opening of it's first satellite office in Baltimore, MD. 6 Degrees began seeking opportunities in Maryland, Delaware, Washington, D.C., and Northern Virginia. In that same month, Regional Sales Manager, Rosemary Byrne, was brought on in Philadelphia, PA to represent 6 Degrees in Central and Eastern Pennsylvania. 6 Degrees now provides construction services in areas surrounding Harrisburg, Lancaster, York, Allentown, Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, and Philadelphia.

Mission

The mission of 6 Degrees Consulting is to become the most sought provider of MBE/DBE construction services in the Pittsburgh region.

6 Degrees understands that customer satisfaction provides long lasting opportunities for additional work and referrals for continued growth and profitability. Through reliable and professional service, 6 Degrees will define itself as a strategic resource to drive the project to successful completion. 6 Degrees will continue to build quality relationships with general contractors and owners, as well as local, state and federal agencies to gain access to profitable work.

6 Degrees Consulting is located in Pittsburgh, the center of the region's construction boom. All available market information indicates that the region's construction dollars spent will range in the $2-$3 Billion annually for the foreseeable future, with substantial amountsof funding derived from state and federal agencies.

These funding agencies require percentages of work to be derived from M/W/DBE (Minority/Women/Disadvantaged Business Enterprise) certified businesses. We feel that the market opportunities will exist at all levels of government funded or assisted projects.In addition, select private owners who require utilization of the local M/W/DBE intend to utilize our MBE/DBE status to satisfy the contract requirements of these projects. We realize that with much projected growth comes an enormous growth opportunity.
